| Hangzhou is the capital of Zhejiang Province, ca.180 km from Shanghai and not far from the sea. It is a small, idyllic town by Chinese standards but it has been seriously modernized in recent years because it is a center of foreign exchanges. The old character has been better preserved than in most other Chinese cities creating an exciting mix of traditional and modern architecture. |
